Steaming

Steam

Steaming gently cooks food using water vapor, preserving nutrients. Use a stainless steel pot with a steamer basket or a bamboo steamer for the best results.

Bamboo Steamer Basket

1. Preparation

• Fill a pot or wok with water, ensuring the water level is below the steamer basket to prevent direct contact.

• Bring the water to a gentle boil.

• Place the bamboo or steamer basket on top of the pot. Line the basket with parchment paper or cabbage leaves to prevent food from sticking.

2. Cooking

• Arrange food items (e.g., dumplings, vegetables, or fish) in a single layer inside the basket.

• Cover the steamer with its lid to trap steam and cook the food evenly.

• Steam for the recommended time, checking occasionally to ensure there is enough water in the pot.

3. Finishing

• Carefully remove the basket using tongs or oven mitts to avoid burns from the hot steam.

• Serve the steamed food immediately.

Cleaning instructions

Step 1: Allow the bamboo steamer basket to cool completely.

Step 2: Rinse the basket with warm water. Avoid soaking, as bamboo can absorb water and warp.

Step 3: Gently scrub any residue with a soft brush. Use a mild soap sparingly if needed.

Step 4: Rinse thoroughly and let the basket air dry completely before storing to prevent mold.
