Melting converts solid ingredients to liquid, often in a double boiler or non-stick pan.
• Double Boiler
• Fill the bottom pot of the double boiler with a small amount of water (about 1-2 inches) without allowing it to touch the top pot.
• Place the top pot (usually glass or metal) on top, ensuring a snug fit to prevent steam from escaping.
• Turn on the heat to medium-low and add the ingredient (e.g., chocolate, butter, or cheese) to the top pot.
• Allow the steam from the simmering water to gently melt the ingredients. Stir occasionally to ensure even melting.
• Adjust the heat if necessary to maintain a gentle simmer and prevent overheating or burning.
• Once the ingredients are fully melted and smooth, remove the top pot from the double boiler.
• Use the melted ingredients immediately or transfer to a container.
• Step 1: Allow the double boiler to cool before cleaning.
• Step 2: Empty any remaining water from the bottom pot.
• Step 3: Wash the top and bottom pots with warm, soapy water and a soft sponge.
• Step 4: Dry thoroughly before storing.
